Exposed Structure and Anti-Slip Floor Coating
Scope of Work |
 |
Renovation - Sandblasted and painted metal deck pool ceiling; hand tool and paint slide structure; painted locker room walls and applied anti-slip floor coating, painted hallways, doors and frames. |
Challenges |
|
Adjacent to occupied school, chemicals present in pool area, and uneven surface below ceiling. |
Solutions |
|
Recommended to wash deck ceiling with an appropriate chemical, prior to sandblasting,
remove the chlorine residue and other chemicals present in pool areas. If not, sandblasting would likely
impede surface containments forcing chemicals into the steel which could resurface through new
coating. Environmentally-safe blast media was used. Project posed elevated risk factor; thus, safety
required additional measures. Entire pool area was scaffold to perform sandblasting and spraying of
deck ceiling. Labor received job specific training. Protection of drains/vents and current mural received
additional protection.
